A FEW WORDS ON OUR STANDARDS THAT DIRECTLY EFFECTS YOUR PHOTOS
Quality is a term that is often used but not often substantiated by actual fact.
All our photographs are developed used the latest advances in technology, combined with the time proven
techniques of silver halide chemistry in a wet process.
This Hybrid process takes advantage of digital consistency in harmony with the print longevity achieved by the
by traditional use of the darkroom 'wet chemical process'.
The result is a wide colour gamut, great tonal range with supurb colour rendition.
FRAMING - WHAT YOU CAN AND CANT SEE EFFECTS THE LIFE OF YOUR PHOTO.
Our Studio also incorporates a large dedicated mounting and framing workshop.
We frame and mount all our photos in house as this is the only way quality can be stictly controlled
during every step of the process.
The way a photograph is mounted is extremely important in not only the look of the final image but
also most importantly,in extending the lifespan of each piece.
If not mounted correctly, temperature and humidity fluctuations can cause images to 'ripple' or
to 'wave' which simply makes the image awfull to view. Yes, it really stands out.Unfortunately this method of mounting called 'hinging' is commonly used as it is quick,
cheap and requires no special skills or eqiupment.Worse still, 'hinging' provides no protection
from acid migration as detailed below.
The poor end result achieved using this method reflects this and is plain for all to see.
Look closely and from different angles especially from the side looking along the long side to spot a hinged mounted piece.
The correct method we use to avoid this is to mount all our photographs with specialised acid free
adhesives. This guarantees a ripple free surface no matter what humidity or temperature fluctuations.
In fact our adhesive is so good that it is made in the same factory that produces surgical adhesive
for use inside human patients during medical procedures !
In addition to our adhesive being acid free they also incorporate a micro thin acid barrier. This is an little mentioned feature that
silently protects your image from the slow process of acid migration from the substrate or mount board(what ever it may be)
to the image.
All non inert substrates even if they start life as acid free(which indeed they should) will turn acid over time.
This is where our acid barrier comes into its own, stopping any acid migration in its tracks and avoiding unsightly and
destructive yellow acid stains on your image.
Of course this is a specialised method that requires experienced people, skills and equipment to achieve the perfect result.
We have invested heavily in equipment and spent the time developing our own procedures to provide the best mounting methods available.
The result is quality you can see.
